Walk around downtown St. Paul or Minneapolis any day and you’ll see homeless people on the sidewalks or skyways, backpacks in tow. Exit any freeway ramp around town and you’re likely to see someone holding a cardboard sign, asking for money.
These people are our neighbors. They may have been employed but lost their home. Or they may have grown up on the street to parents who were homeless and have never known any other way.
Whatever their story, they have unsurpassable worth as human beings and deserve our care and attention. Proverbs 31:8-9 says, “Speak up for those who cannot speak for themselves, for the rights of all who are destitute. Speak up and judge fairly; defend the rights of the poor and needy.”
And it says in Isaiah, “Learn to do right; seek justice. Defend the oppressed. Take up the cause of the fatherless; plead the case of the widow.” (Isaiah 1:17)
You can stand up for those who don’t have a voice in our society.

If you’re ready to use your hands and heart to help men, women, or children, we’ve got a place for you or your group to serve one time or regularly. The best thing you can do when you see someone on the street is to hand them a Ticket of Hope. This ticket gives the homeless everything they need to know about how to get their life back on track.
Put together bags of personal items for the homeless, such as combs, toothpaste, or socks. Call 651-228-1800 for list of suggested items!
